About

Hi, I’m Seran. I Design With a, History, and a Whole Lot of Color Harmony

A woman sitting on the floor with her knees drawn up, smiling and holding a paintbrush. She is wearing a cream-colored blouse, navy pants, and tan winter boots, with a light blue background.

I’ve been designing walls for over 25 years—but my passion for art began long before that. I believe walls are not just surfaces. They’re canvases for storytelling. They hold emotion, memory, culture, and soul.

Through hand-painted murals, decorative finishes, and textured coatings, I help people transform their spaces into something deeply personal, beautiful, and meaningful.

Whether you’re a homeowner, a business owner, or a creative soul, I’d be honored to help you bring your story to life—one brushstroke at a time.

My Story

A happy family of three, including a woman, a man, and a young boy, smiling and posing outdoors on a sunny day with trees and a clear sky in the background.

From Istanbul to Minnesota…A Life Painted in Layers

I was born and raised in Istanbul, surrounded by Mediterranean patterns, Turkish ceramics, and layers of cultural richness. I always knew I wanted to be an artist. At 12, I set my heart on studying Fine Arts—and by 18, I was collaborating with professors, architects, and designers on real wall projects.

Italy, Spain, and Turkey shaped my craft and soul. I worked in handmade tile studios, studied restoration in Pompeii, explored Trompe l’oeil techniques, and designed commercial tiles for global manufacturers.

But my true calling? It was always the wall. That blank surface begging to be part of something bigger.

In 2012, I moved to Minnesota and—after becoming a mom—I found myself painting a mural in my son’s nursery. It reawakened something in me. That single act led to school murals, then residential projects, then cafés, therapy offices, and beyond.

In 2016, I launched my first mural business. Today, Rumi Wall Design is my second chapter—deeper, more intentional, and more aligned than ever.

Why I Named My Business Rumi

Because like the poet Rumi, I believe that love is the root of everything.
I named this business after the kind of love that fuels my work—love for art, for beauty, for people, for culture.

I paint not just to express myself, but to connect.
To tell your story, to reflect your values, to bring beauty into your everyday life.

"Art is a language. It’s not just how I express myself—it's how I listen, how I connect, how I give."

My Inspirations

Rustic dining area with a wooden table and chairs, large painted olive branch mural on a green wall, exposed brick and wood framing.

Nature

From the smallest leaf vein to vast desert tones—nature is the ultimate artist. I study its palettes, its textures, and its patterns to bring calm and cohesion into every space.

Color Harmony

I believe in the power of thoughtful color. It’s not about being bold—it’s about being right. The right hue can ground a room, soften a mood, or elevate your spirit.

Cultural Heritage

My Turkish and Mediterranean roots influence everything I create. I love weaving traditional patterns into modern spaces, creating timeless beauty with soul.

 Beyond the Brush

I laugh hard, cry easily, and think out loud. I love long dinners with friends, cooking from scratch, and losing track of time in museums. I’m deeply curious, sometimes a little impatient, and always in love with love.

I have ADHD, so my mind spins with ideas. But that’s also what makes me see the world in layers and textures—just like a wall waiting to be painted.

I don’t believe in perfection. I believe in passion, process, and presence.

I’d Be Honored to Create Something With You

Whether you’re dreaming of a mural or just curious about possibilities, I’m here to listen, guide, and create.
